Painted in situ during a week in Venice during Summer 2007

I have never seen St Marks Cathedral looking so spectacular! As I painted by night with the music from the café's orchestras in the background, tidal water started to come up through the paving until the whole area was flooded, providing the most amazing reflection of the Basilica across the square.
